In a shocking incident, a man died after trapped in an elevator at the state-run R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on Friday. The relatives and friends of the deceased protesting on the hospital grounds when the report filed. The man identified as Arup Bandopadhyay, who lived in Dum Dum, located on the northern outskirts of Kolkata.
Man Dies Trapped in Kolkata Hospital lift
Reports indicate that he stuck in an elevator within the hospital building that houses the trauma care center, and he died there. “His son is in the trauma care center at the same hospital.
This morning, he trying to reach the trauma care center, which is on the fifth floor of one of the hospital buildings, and then he got stuck in the elevator,” said one relative of the deceased.
Family claim lack of elevator safety
The relatives and friends claimed that there was no elevator operator present during the incident. “He trapped in the elevator, which got stuck midway for over an hour. During that time, no hospital staff or operator was there to help reactivate the elevator,” the relative added.
Hospital authorities said they will address the complaints and conduct a thorough investigation. At the time of the report, the hospital had not provided any explanation for the cause of death. A large police presence from the local Tala Police station arrived at the hospital, and the police were trying to persuade the grieving relatives and friends to leave the premises.
