On Monday, Bombay High Court issue the orders to Maratha Reservation Protestors to clear the roads by 2 September. The court mentioned that the protest was not peaceful and violated all conditions. It directed Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange-Patil and his supporters to ensure that the streets cleared by 2 September, as per PTI.
“We are giving Jarange and his supporters a chance to fix the condition immediately and make sure the roads cleaned by Tuesday noon,” the HC remarked.
Bombay High Court Strict Orders to Maratha Reservation Protestors
During a special hearing, Justice Ravindra Ghuge and Gautam Ankhad said the protestors had clearly violated the conditions. They noted that the protestors not stay at Azad Maidan, the designated area, and instead crowded several key locations in south Mumbai.
“We can see how peaceful the protest is. The high court building is surrounded. The entry gates for judges and lawyers are blocked. The cars of high court judges blocked today and unable to reach the court. The entire city has blocked,” the HC bench said.
Jarange-Patil Give Clear Death Threat to Court
The HC pointed out that since Jarange-Patil and Maratha Reservation supporters does not have valid permission to continue their protest, it expects the Maharashtra government to take strict action according to the law, as reported by PTI.
The HC also asked the state government why it was not clearing the roads. The bench claimed that Jarange-Patil’s ‘fast till death’ statement was a ‘clear threat.’ “He has said he go on a fast till death and not leave Mumbai till his demands are met. He (Jarange) is giving a clear threat.
