Meta India issued an apology over Mark Zuckerberg’s remarks on India, where he had incorrectly stated that the incumbent government lost the 2024 elections. This was after a parliamentary panel in India, led by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, had announced its intentions to summon Meta officials to discuss the issue. Mark Zuckerberg’s comments on India, made on the Joe Rogan podcast, caused significant controversy.
Zuckerberg had contended that the majority of existing governments, in India too, were voted out due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The claims were not at all fact-based as Narendra Modi was re-elected as Prime Minister for the third term. Within no time, Indian officials and politicians had begun questioning Mark Zuckerberg’s claims about India.
