Modi Inaugurates South India Natural Farming Summit 2025, Releases ₹18,000 Crore PM-KISAN Funds

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, today. While addressing the audience, Shri Modi started by paying tribute to Lord Murugan of Marudhamalai on the sacred land of Coimbatore. He described Coimbatore as a place of culture, compassion, and creativity, and acknowledged it as a power centre of South India’s entrepreneurial strength.

The Prime Minister mentioned that he expects to see major changes in Indian agriculture in the coming years. “India is on the path to becoming a global hub for natural farming,” said Shri Modi.

He noted that the country’s biodiversity is improving, and young people now view agriculture as a modern, scalable opportunity. This change will significantly boost the rural economy.

Farmers receive over 10 lakh crore in Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme

Shri Modi highlighted that over the past eleven years, the entire agricultural sector has changed mainly. He shared that India’s agricultural exports have nearly doubled, and the government has opened many avenues to help farmers modernise agriculture.

He pointed out that through the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme alone, farmers have received over ₹10 lakh crore in assistance this year. Shri Modi noted that since the KCC benefits were extended to livestock and fisheries seven years ago, people in these sectors have also been taking advantage of the program. He mentioned that the reduction in GST on bio-fertilisers has further aided farmers.
