Four people were killed, and nine others injured when a BEST bus hit them in Mumbai on Monday. The incident took place around 10 pm in Bhandup, according to officials. The injured individuals taken to a hospital. BEST, which stands for Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport, operates the largest public bus fleet in the country.
The Mumbai Police reported that the bus lost control and struck the pedestrians while the driver was reversing at the end of its route.

Following the accident, a significant police presence sent to the scene to manage the situation and control traffic. Senior officials arrived quickly to assist emergency response teams.
At the time of the accident, Santosh Ramesh Sawant, 52, was driving the bus, and Bhagwan Bhau Ghare, 47, was the conductor on duty. Authorities have begun an investigation to find out what led to the accident, including whether mechanical problems or other factors played a role.
CM announced 5 lakh compensation to decease families
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced financial aid of Rs 5 lakh for the families of those who died in the accident. In a post on X, he called the incident “extremely unfortunate” and offered sincere condolences to the victims.
