Amid concerns from city residents about the shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) due to the conflict in West Asia, the Delhi police’s Crime Branch on Monday shut down an LPG cylinder hoarding operation in a warehouse in outer Delhi’s Mundka area.

As part of its efforts against hoarding and black marketing, the Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Cell raided the warehouse of GurujiIndane Gas Service and seized 610 commercial cylinders from various companies like Indane, Bharat Gas, and Hindustan Petroleum.
“The owner is an authorized distributor, but storing cylinders from different companies breaks the LPG (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order and the Essential Commodities Act of 1955,” said DCP (Crime-I) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.
Police seized 610 Cylinders
During the raid, the police recovered 197 filled cylinders, 392 empty cylinders, and 21 small empty cylinders, with officers from the Food Supplies and Consumers Affairs Department present.
Two people arrested. Yogesh Gupta, 46 caught in east Delhi’s Shakarpur area for allegedly refilling LPG cylinders illegally and selling them at his shop. Acting on a tip-off, police raided the shop and found two domestic cylinders, three small cylinders weighing 5 kg each, and equipment for transferring and refilling cylinders.
