National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Indian Army will conducts the Earthquake Mock drills in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) from July 29 to August 1.
Speaking to ANI on Monday, Lt Gen (Retd) Syed Ata Hasnain said that 11 districts in Delhi, two districts in Uttar Pradesh, and 6 districts in Haryana will participate in the mock drill.
Earthquake Mock drills in Delhi
He said, “This will be optimised mock drill. We are engaging in this Mock drill in NCR area. This approach that 2 districts in UP and 6 districts in Haryana will also be active on this. Also, 11 districts in Delhi will participate.”
He said that the NDMA and the Navy will hold a symposium at Manekshaw Centre on July 29, while a mock drill held with representatives from all the districts on July 30.
“The risks we can be going through are earthquakes and chemical injuries. On 29 July, we will keep a symposium at the Manekshaw Centre. On 30 July, a tabletop workout will held, proposing representatives from all the districts. They will given conditions, and it is going to be seen how they reply,” he said.
NDMA and Indian Army organized the activities
Lt Gen (Retd) Hasnain said that the Earthquake Mock drills will conducts on August 1. “On August 1, the equal tabletop exercise keep into exercise at the ground. We need to be organized for each scenario. For the first time, an initiative has also come from the Army to a large extent,” the NDMA official said.
The Vice Chairman of UP State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), Lt Gen (Retd) Yogendra Dimri said, “This entire workout will go on for 3 days. Tomorrow, there is a symposium where all the groups will share their views.
