The Annual Tulip Festival 2026 organized by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), will officially open on Monday at Shanti Path Lawn in the heart of the national capital.
The festival will include a special walk and exhibition, as stated by an official. “The Tulip Walk and visit to the Tulip Exhibition showcase a stunning variety of blooming tulips and floral displays put together by the Horticulture Department. It will start on Monday morning at the lawn near the Embassy of Sudan in Chanakyapuri,” the official said.
NDMC organize Annual Tulip Festival 2026
Initially, the Tulip Festival set to open on February 17. However, due to strict security measures for the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, the ceremony postponed by a week.
Last month, while presenting the NDMC’s budget, Vice-Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal discussed plans to host the Tulip Festival 2026 on a grand scale. He mentioned that to beautify the city, 5.53 lakh tulip bulbs planted. Many of these bulbs developed in-house and in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, as part of the “Make in India” initiative.
Focus on sustainability
“Last year, for the first time, the NDMC created potted tulip plants from one lakh tulip bulbs and sold them to make them available to the public. They offered for sale at Shanti Path Lawn, Lodhi Garden, Nehru Park, Talkatora Garden, Central Park, and NDMC nurseries, including Safdarjung Madarsa, Gurudwara Park, and Purana Quila Road,” the official added.
Chahal also spoke about other beautification efforts by the civic agency and said, “The NDMC is working to become the most progressive municipality in the country regarding sustainability and self-reliance.”
“We aim to create a New Delhi that serves as a beacon of modernity, sustainability, and civic responsibility—a goal inspired by PM Modi,” he said.
