Overcrowded local train in Mumbai killed 4 People, several injured

Four humans killed and several others injured after they fell off Overcrowded local train in Mumbai during hours. According to railway officers, the incident occurred at around 9.30 am between Diva and Kopar railway stations of the Central Railway.

While one of the trains was going closer to Kasara, the other was going toward Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. All the deceased are reportedly among 30-35 years of age. According to initial reports, the commuters had been travelling at the footboards of the trains that have been crossing each other when they lost balance and fell onto the railway tracks.

5 Dead after fell off from Overcrowded local train

The railway officers alerted about the incident by cross of the Kasara-bound train. Following this, officers and police personnel rushed to the spot with ambulances and rescued the injured. They rushed to a hospital in Kalwa where 5 were declared dead.

Three of the deceased identified so far. Among them are 23 year old Ketan Dilip Saroj, a resident of Ulhasnagar, 34 year old railway worker Vickey Babasaheb Mukhidal and someone named Rahul Santosh Gupta. The fourth is yet to be identified.

Maharashtra CM express condolences to families

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed his condolences to the families of people who died in the incident. “It is very unlucky that a total of 8 passengers fell from a Overcrowded local train between Diva-Mumbra station and a number of them lost their lives. I pay my heartfelt tributes to them. We share the grief in their families,” he wrote on X. Following the incident, the railway board has decided to have automated door closure centers for all rakes currently being set up for the Mumbai Suburban Railways. Apart from this, the rakes that the currently in service may redesigned and fitted with door-closure centers.
