PM Modi visit Gangtok today to participate in the Sikkim@50, Where Progress Meets Purpose and Nature Nurtures Growth” programme. It marks the 50th anniversary of Sikkim’s statehood. The occasion is part of a year-long party themed “Sunaulo, Samriddha, and Samarth Sikkim,” shows the state’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
PM Modi Inaugurate Projects of Rs 750 crore
PM scheduled to arrive round 11 AM and could lay the foundation and inaugurate numerous key development projects to enhance infrastructure, connectivity, and basic growth in Sikkim. Major tasks consist of a new 500-bed district health center in Namchi well worth over Rs 750 crore, a passenger ropeway at Sangachoeling in Pelling, Gyalshing district, and the disclosing of a statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok district.
Additionally, he’s going to launch a commemorative coin, souvenir coin, and postal stamp to mark the golden jubilee. Residents collected enthusiastically to welcome PM and participate in the celebrations, highlighting their association with government schemes and local traditions. Speaking to ANI, Sonam Bhutia, a resident said, “We are very excited. It is a big success that our PM is coming to our state.”

Another resident, Tikha Khannal, shared her pleasure and said, “I am here to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a Lakhpati Didi. We, the humans of Sikkim, are pleased that PM is visiting our country today. We have made complete arrangements for his visit. Even the weather helps us today, because it was hot here the previous day.” Dibash Rutung, dressed in conventional Gurung network attire, said, “I am sporting the conventional outfit of Sikkim’s Gurung network. We want to exhibit it to PM… We are happy that the PM is visiting Sikkim today.”
State BJP President DR Thapa said that the people of Sikkim eagerly wait for the Prime Minister’s visit. He stated the visit would start new opportunities and developmental tasks for the country. “He will inaugurate various infrastructural tasks across Sikkim and lay the foundation of various upcoming tasks,” Thapa said. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the PM Modi also visit West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh on May 29 and 30, inaugurating and laying the foundation of development projects worth more than Rs 70,000 crore.Top of Form
