PM Modi participated in the birth centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. Former Miss World and a former student of the Sathya Sai Bal Vikas program, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, shared the stage with him.
Also present at the event in Puttaparthi were Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, and R J Rathnakar, managing trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.
PM Modi’s pay tribute to Sri Sathya Sai Baba
During his speech, PM paid tribute to the late spiritual leader Sri Sathya Sai Baba. He said that Baba’s teachings and service continue to inspire millions across the world, as reported by PTI.
“Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s centenary celebration is not just a festival; it is a divine gift. Though Sai Baba is not with us physically, his love and spirit of service guide countless people,” Modi said. He added that the central value of Indian civilization is service.
In his speech at the celebrations, Modi also released a coin and a set of stamps to honor the guru.
What Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said
Bachchan spoke at the event, highlighting that even after a century, the guru’s teachings, guidance, and compassion still resonate in the hearts of millions worldwide.
Recalling Sathya Sai Baba’s teachings, she mentioned the five essential qualities he often emphasized: Discipline, Dedication, Devotion, Determination, and Discrimination. At the end of her speech, Bachchan touched PM Modi feet, expressing her admiration. She stated that true leadership is about service and that serving humanity is akin to serving God.
