President Droupadi Murmu accepts Jagdeep Dhankhar Resignation, Notice Issue by MHA

President Droupadi Murmu has accepts Jagdeep Dhankhar resignation from the post of Vice President of India on Tuesday. The letter also sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs ( MHA).

BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari, who was in the Chair, announced on Tuesday that Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation as Vice President of India regularized by the President.

Jagdeep Dhankhar Resignation sent to MHA

The Chair introduced that the Home Affairs ministry has also conveyed the resignation of Dhankhar under 67A of the Constitution with “instant effect.”

Jagdeep Dhankar resigned from the post of VP on Monday night by invoking Article 67(a) of the charter. In his resignation letter, Dhankhar mentioned medical reasons and said he might be stepping down from the post to “prioritise health care.” The gazette notification issued by the MHA states Dhankhar’s letter sent to the President on Monday evening.

PM Modi responds on resignation

Reacting to the resignation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his true desires to Jagdeep Dhankhar while acknowledging his service to the country.

“Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji has got many opportunities to serve our country in various ways, along with as the Vice President of India. Wishing him good health,” PM Modi wrote on X.

“To prioritise health care and abide by medical advise, I hereby surrender as Vice President of India, effective straight away, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the Constitution,” wrote Dhankhar in his letter of resignation. With the post of the Vice President now vacant, the Election Commission is expected to announce a schedule for the election of the new candidate soon.
