Pune Bridge Collapsed Rescue Operations End, 4 People Declared Dead, 2 Recovered

The National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) on Monday said that rescue operations at the Pune Bridge Collapsed site have ended. Four people are confirmed dead and  other bodies had been recovered from the spot, officials said. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the bridge has been declared risky by the district collector, and caution forums had been placed up on the site.

PM Modi spoke to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis over the incident. While expressing grief over the lack of lives, PM Modi assured all possible assistance in alleviation measures. The collapsed bridge was used by tourists to cross river. Authorities trust the structure given under the weight of the weekend crowd. In response to the scale of the incident, both NDRF groups and Pimpri-Chinchwad police officers have been mobilised.

Collector issued prohibitory orders

Before the Pune Bridge Collapsed incident occurs, Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi had issued prohibitory orders restricting tourists from coming near water bodies and natural sites, bringing up safety problems because of the monsoon. The incident occurs close to Kund Mala in Talegaon, a popular tourist destination located around 30 km from Pune, well known for its natural sinkholes, gorges, and precise rock formations.
