Amid the ongoing high-voltage row over the special in-depth revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi thanked the Election Commission for the “unique experience” he had of having tea with some “dead” voters.
The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha met a number of 7 citizens at his residence, who told him how they declared “dead” by poll frame, and their names eliminated from the electoral rolls.
Rahul Gandhi thanks EC for unique tea experience with dead voters
“There were many exciting experiences in life, but I got the chance to have tea with ‘dead peoples’. For this unique experience, thank you Election Commission!” Gandhi said in a post on X.
He also shared a video of his meeting with those citizens. Some of the electorate heard telling the Congress chief that they observed that they “declared dead” upon checking the electoral rolls released by the EC throughout the SIR. These people are the 65 lakh voters whose names removed from the ballot rolls in some parts of Bihar.
Congress Leader Approach SC for correct Polls list
The organization informed Gandhi that they had approached the Supreme Court on Wednesday to get their names again on the list because the apex court is listening to petitions against the SIR order in Bihar.
Rahul Gandhi heard asking them if they come to Delhi earlier, and tells them to go sightseeing in the capital because the “dead” will not even need any tickets. Later, the Congress also said that the seven electorate from Bihar are alive, and that they shared tea with Rahul Gandhi.
These citizens from Bihar are Ramikbal Ray, Harendra Ray, Lalmuni Devi, Vachiya Devi, Lalwati Devi, Punam Kumari, and Munna Kumar; and all of them hail from RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav’s Raghopur constituency.
