Two men were arrested after they attempted to set a motorcycle on fire at a Raipur Petrol Pump. An employee at the station acted quickly and put out the fire, as seen in a video of the event.

The two young men arrived at the Sangita Fuels petrol station near Karma Chowk in the Urla area around 7:40 pm to fuel their motorcycle. As the employee began filling the tank, the man on the back of the bike got off and tried to light a cigarette.
When the employee asked him not to smoke, he became upset and threw his lighter into the fuel tank. The flames spread to the motorcycle and the fuel nozzle at the pump. When the fire flared up, both the biker and the employee quickly moved away.
Accused arrested
CCTV footage helped identify the suspects as Dharmendra Singh of Birgaon, Urla, and Imran Quraishi of AHP Colony. After the fire was controlled, the two men attempted to escape, but the station staff caught them and called the police, who later filed a report. Urla police arrested them and confiscated their motorcycle and the lighter used in the incident.
Urla inspector Rohit Mahelkar stated that a case has been opened under laws related to arson and endangering public safety. The investigation is ongoing.
In 2024, a drunk man was arrested after he started a fire at a petrol station in Hyderabad. The man, known as Chiran, arrived at the station holding a cigarette lighter. An employee named Arun asked him if he intended to light it. Someone at the station encouraged Chiran to “light it if he had the guts.”
