Amid the LPG crisis that has affected Rajasthan for the past week, some relief has finally arrived. The hotel and restaurant industry, which faced serious challenges due to the cooking gas shortage, has received a much-needed lifeline.
Oil companies resumed the supply of commercial LPG cylinders on Sunday. Normal operations are expected to start today in nearly 50,000 hotels and restaurants across the state, including Jaipur.
LPG shortage ends in Rajasthan
Food and Civil Supplies Minister SumitGodara announced that bookings for commercial cylinders have started. About 30% of businesses will receive supplies today, and the situation will gradually return to normal.
The minister accused the Congress party of spreading rumors to create panic among the public. He claimed that supply has been consistently maintained based on online bookings.
Supply Halted for 6 Days
Gajendra Lunival, President of the Federation of Rajasthan Hotel Association, said that no commercial cylinder had been delivered to any hotel or restaurant in the state for the past 6-7 days. The situation had become so severe that around 1,300 hotels in Jaipur, along with 15,000 hotels and 35,000 restaurants state wide, faced closure.
As an alternative, operators turned to induction and diesel stoves, but this was quite costly. Because of this crisis, many hotels had to adjust their menus. Now, with the government resuming the supply of commercial gas cylinders, there is relief.
