A five-year-old girl tied up and beaten by a resident of Behdala village in UNA district today for trying to pick a guava from a tree owned by the accused, an ex-serviceman. A video of the incident spread quickly on social media, leading to action from the UNA district administration in Himachal.
The victim, who comes from a family of migrant workers living nearby in a thatched hut, had her hands tied to the railing of the stairs in the house. The identity of the accused, whose name not confirmed by the police, was still unknown.

After the video went viral, District Child Protection Officer Kamal Deep Singh arrived at the scene with a police team. They took statements from the victim and her parents.
FIR filed against him
Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahender Pal Gurjar announced that an FIR filed against the accused and an investigation has begun.
Meanwhile, public outcry against the accused has surged on social media, with calls for action. The child returned to her family’s care.
