Recently, the School Van- Train Accident happens on railway crossing in Tamil Nadu. In this accident, 3 childrens killed and other injured. According to initial data, around 5 students rushed to the Cuddalore Government Medical College Hospital with extreme injuries. With the van badly hit into train, it cause loss of life of many students.
3 Students Killed in School Van- Train Accident
The 3 deceased children identified as V. Nimilesh (12) from Thondamanatham, D. Charumathi (16) from Subramaniapuram and Chezhian(15) from Kumarapuram.
A 55-year-old man named Annadurai from Semmankuppam, who came at the spot, was injured, after come in contact with a electrical cable that snapped during accident.
According to the statement, the incident happened at crossing gate number 170, a non-interlocked gate between Cuddalore and Alappakkam. The van hit by the Villupuram–Mayiladuthurai passenger train (Train No. 56813).
Violation of Railway Safety Rules cause this incident
While villagers to start with claimed that the gate was not closed for the passing train, a statement from Southern Railway stated the gatekeeper had proceeded to close the gate. However, the van driver insisted that his van be allowed to cross to reach the school on time. The gatekeeper then opened the gate, that is not right.
“As the gatekeeper violated safety rules, it causes School Van- Train Accident. He has been suspended, and the system for his removal from service has been initiated as per extant way,” the release added.
The railway announcement stated 6 students were injured and admitted to the clinic. It added that railway doctors are monitoring the patients on the government clinic and that will shifted to the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry if required.
