In a road accident near M. Satyavara village in Hoskotetaluk of Bengaluru Rural district, seven people died on Friday morning after a series of collisions involving a canter vehicle, a bike, and a car.
The accident happened on the Hoskote-Dabaspete National Highway when a car crashed into a motorcycle in front of it. The impact caused the car to lose control and collide with a canter vehicle traveling on the same road.
7 dead in Bengaluru chain crash
This chain reaction resulted in the deaths of six occupants of the car and the bike rider at the scene.
Preliminary investigations shows that speeding may have contributed to the accident. Police sources mentioned that the car was reportedly going fast when it struck the bike from behind. The sudden impact threw the vehicle off balance, causing it to veer off course and hit the canter head-on.
Police notify family soon
Of the deceased, six are found to be residents of Kothanur in Bengaluru. Their identities have not been officially released as the authorities wait to notify family members.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after being informed and carried out an initial inspection. Traffic on the busy highway was disrupted for a while as authorities cleared the wreckage and transported the bodies for post-mortem examination.
A case has been filed, and further investigation is ongoing to clarify the sequence of events and confirm the cause of the accident.
