Teen Recites 2,000 Vedic Mantras in Rare Dandakrama Style

On Tuesday, PM Modi praised a teenager who finish the rare feat of reciting 2,000 mantras and Vedic verses in Varanasi. In a message on X, PM Modi said, “What 19-year-old Vedamurti Devavrat Mahesh Rekhe remembered by generations to come!”

“Every person who loves Indian culture feels proud of him for completing the Dandakrama Parayanam. This involved 2,000 mantras from the Shukla Yajurveda’s Madhyandini branch. He finished this in 50 days without interruption. This includes several Vedic verses and sacred words recited flawlessly. He represents the best of our Guru Parampara,” he stated.

“As the MP from Kashi, I am delighted that this remarkable feat happened in this sacred city. My respects to his family and to the many saints, seers, scholars, and organizations from all over India,” said PM Modi.

What is Dandakrama Parayanam?

Dandakrama Parayanam is a powerful and revered form of worship dedicated to Lord Narasimha. The word “Danda” means staff or discipline, “Krama” means sequence, and “Parayanam” means recitation. So, Dandakrama Parayanam refers to a strict, step-by-step chanting of specific verses, usually from sacred texts like the Narasimha Stotram, Narasimha Tapani Upanishad, or traditional Dandakam compositions such as the famous Narasimha Dandakam.
