Thief Snatches Gold Mangalsutra from Hospital Worker in AIIMS Bhopal Elevator

Even in secure hospital at AIIMS Bhopal, women are not safe. A chain snatching happened inside an elevator on Sunday evening involving a female staff member. The CCTV footage surfaced on Monday, raising serious concerns about AIIMS’ security.

The incident occurred in the elevator near the blood bank. The victim, Varsha Soni, works as an attendant in the gynecology department and was alone in the elevator during her shift. A young man wearing a mask and cap entered and pretended to ask about the ophthalmology department floor.

When the elevator reached the third floor, the young man first stepped out but quickly returned to grab the woman’s neck. He attempted to snatch her gold pearl necklace and mangalsutra. The woman fought back, but he shoved her aside and ran towards the stairs. He escaped with the mangalsutra, while the pearl necklace broke and fell to the ground.

No guard present at floor

No guard was present in the lift area. The shocking part was that no security guard was on duty in the lift area during the incident at AIIMS Bhopal. Afterward, the victim sat there crying for about ten minutes. Eventually, a guard on his rounds informed senior officials. The woman has filed a written complaint at Bagsewania police station, but no FIR has been registered yet.
