Three Coaches Derail from Chennai-New Jalpaiguri Express in Odisha, No Injuries

Three coaches of the Chennai Central Express derailed near Jakhapura railway station in Odisha Jajpur district on Thursday, an official reported.

There were no reports of injuries or fatalities from the incident, which happened at 8:51 am. One air-conditioned coach and two general coaches of the train, traveling from Chennai to New Japaiguri in West Bengal, came off the tracks, according to the railway official.

“A minor derailment involving Train No. 22611 Chennai-New Jalpaiguri Express occurred at 08:51 hrs today morning while the train was passing through Jajpur Yard (JKPR),” the East Coast Railway (ECoR) stated in a release.

“The train was moving at a very slow speed at the time of the incident. There has been no loss of life or injuries to passengers. Passenger train operations remain unaffected,” the statement added.

No injuries reported

The cause of the derailment is still unclear. “After receiving the information, an Accident Relief Train (ART) from Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road, along with Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) from Khurda Road promptly sent at 08:53 hrs,” according to the ECoR release. East Coast Railway CPRO Deepak Rout mentioned that the train continued to its destination, and three new coaches added at Balasore.
