A moment during the Republic Day 2026 celebrations in Rajasthan has put senior IAS officer Tina Dabi under intense public scrutiny. A video from the official function in Barmer has circulated widely on social media.
The episode took place at the 77th Republic Day celebrations held at the Barmer District Collectorate. Dabi, the district collector, was overseeing the flag hoisting ceremony. In the viral clip, she seen unfurling the national flag and briefly facing the wrong direction while saluting. A security personnel nearby gestured toward the correct position. Dabi quickly adjusted her position and completed the official salute.

Though the moment lasted only a few seconds, the clip spread rapidly online and sparked mixed reactions. Some social media users labeled it a “protocol violation” and made comments like “That lousy salute,” suggesting that such mistakes are not acceptable during national events.

In contrast, many defended Tina Dabi, calling the incident a minor human error that happened under pressure during an official public program. Others praised the security staff for quickly correcting the mistake.
In response to the criticism, Tina Dabi said that the position unintentional and caused by brief confusion during a tightly packed schedule. She added that it noticed and corrected immediately.
Many in administrative circles have downplayed the controversy, describing it as a minor slip and noting that the ceremony went on without interruption, ABP reported.
