A terrible accident happened in South Mumbai Khetwadi area. A school bus ran over a woman and her nine-month-old grandchild, whom she was holding. The children died immediately, and the woman face serious injuries.
The woman had gone to pick up her granddaughter from the school bus drop-off point. Fortunately, the girl escaped without harm.
School bus ran over grandmother and toddler in Mumbai
CCTV footage shows the granddaughter, a student at JB Soman School in Colaba, getting off the bus at 12:23 pm. The woman, carrying the infant, holds the girl’s arm, and they start to cross the road in front of the bus, which begins to move.
Bus driver arrested
The footage reveals the woman bracing for the impact. She, the baby, and the girl fall to the ground. The front right wheel of the bus rolls over the woman and the baby, move the granddaughter by just a few centimeters. Bystanders hurry to help the woman and the little girl crawls to safety. A scooter rider stops to avoid hitting her. Mumbai Police confirmed that they have registered a case and arrested the bus driver.
