Ten people arrested for allegedly Sword Distribution to residents in Ghaziabad, following a viral video that drew intense criticism from opposition parties.
The video reportedly shows members of a right-wing group, the Hindu Raksha Dal, handing out swords in Ghaziabad. This event took place on Monday, December 29, 2025. The police filed a case against at least 46 individuals under Sections 191(2) (guilty of rioting), 191(3) (guilty of rioting while armed with a deadly weapon, or anything that can cause death when used as a weapon), and 127(2) (wrongful confinement) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
10 arrested for Sword Distribution in Ghaziabad
Atul Kumar Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police for Shalimar Garden, stated, “The Shalimar Garden police station received information via social media that Pinky Chaudhary, the national president of the Hindu Raksha Dal, was distributing swords. The police registered a case against 16 named individuals and 25 to 30 unidentified individuals. So far, 10 people arrested, and the investigation will continue. The law-and-order situation at the scene is normal.”
Calls enemies of country unity
Akhilesh Yadav, president of the Samajwadi Party, questioned whether anyone would take action against those he called “enemies of the country’s unity” for Sword Distribution to people’s homes. He wrote in a post on X, “Is there anyone to take action against the enemies of the country’s unity and social harmony who are delivering everything from ‘violent thoughts’ to ‘violent weapons’ to people’s homes?
Violence is a sign of uncivilized people and also of weakened power,” while sharing the viral video. The Congress party accused the opposition of trying to disturb communal harmony in western Uttar Pradesh.
