In Amroha district, a sudden stretch of slippery UP Road became dangerous for motorcyclists. Dozens of riders skidded and fell, resulting in several injuries while narrowly avoiding a major accident.
The incident took place on the morning of Basant Panchami. A change in the weather brought light rain that continued through the day.
Rainwater with sugar mill waste cause UP Road slippery
Near a private inter-college in the Bachhrayun police station area, rainwater mixed with waste from a nearby sugar mill spread across the road. As four-wheeled vehicles passed over it repeatedly, the mixture formed a smooth, paste-like layer of mud and debris, making the surface extremely slippery.
By evening, the situation grew worse. Motorcyclists trying to brake or keep their balance began to slip and fall one after another. Several bikes skidded across the road, leading to dozens of minor injuries. Fortunately, no one killed, and a potentially serious accident avoided.
Multiple riders slips
A young man at the scene recorded the alarming visuals and shared the video on social media. The clip, showing multiple riders losing control and falling in the same area, went viral and highlighted the hazardous conditions.
After reports of the incident, a police team hurried to the location. Officers first used a tractor to remove the debris from the UP Road. Then, they thoroughly washed the area with water sprayed by the fire brigade, including a sugar mill fire engine, to ensure the slippery residue cleared.
