A four-story building has collapsed in Punjab’s Mohali, killing two people. Rescue teams have been working for over 17 hours to save others trapped beneath the rubble. A three-second video captured moments before the incident, showed chaos before the structure crumbled.
The victims who have been identified are Theog’s Drishti Verma and Ambala, Haryana’s Abhishek. Verma was extracted from the debris late at night but died at Sohana Hospital due to her injuries. Abhishek’s body was recovered early today morning.
They believe that some kind of illegal excavation work going on on an adjacent plot may have led to the mishap. Authorities disclosed that the excavation work was done without the appropriate permissions. A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been lodged against the building owners, Parwinder Singh and Gagandeep Singh.
