Watch video: Bihar man fast for Mia Khalifa on Karwa Chauth 2024

Man fast for mia khalifa on karwa chauth

An unusual Karwa Chauth celebration has taken social media by storm after a man from Bihar fast for Mia Khalifa. He even performed the festival’s rituals using a photo of former adult film star and social media personality Mia Khalifa.

A strange act, the man, adorned in traditional attire, was seen performing the ritual that is usually reserved for married couples. In his case, instead of placing a picture of his spouse, he used an image of Khalifa and performed an aarti to her photo. The video widely shared on social networks has created a healthy mix of ridicule and furor.

In the video, the man is seen holding a ceremonial plate with a lamp and a sieve, completing the traditional prayer with his eyes closed and fixated on the image of Khalifa. Shortly thereafter, another video emerged, in which a man performed the ritual, but this time with her photo taped to the wall.

Social Media Reacts as Man Fast for Mia Khalifa on Karwa Chauth

While some people viewed the clips as outright entertainment for the sake of entertainment, online reaction came in two stark colors. Many found it funny and ended their comments with laughing emojis; others came forward stating it was mocking a sacred Hindu tradition.

A section of social media users even said that it disrespected the cultural importance of Karwa Chauth-the festival when married women would stay without water and food from dawn till moon time for the long life of their husbands.

This follows the official Karwa Chauth, which was observed yesterday, October 20, 2024. The custom has traditionally been observed among women, while in recent times, men have also taken part and abstained on behalf of their spouses. While cultures are becoming more liberalized, the Mia Khalifa-themed Karwa Chauth with the Bihar man has sent a wave of controversy in the realm of respect and playfulness about culture.
