A beach shack on Romeo Lane in Goa, owned by the Luthra brothers, came under scrutiny last month after a case was filed against its staff for assaulting a woman and her family.
The woman, identified as Vaibhav Chandel, a Mumbai resident who visited the club on November 1, claimed that the staff were rude, behaved inappropriately, and hit them with rods. She described the club as “suffocating,” noting that it had only one entry and exit.
Women alleged the Goa club staff for assaulting her with family
“I went to Romeo Lane in Vagator on November 1 with my cousins. There were 13 of us in total. The club is set up in a way that makes it very cramped. It has only one entry and one exit, which is also elevated. So, it is hard to get in and out of that club. The staff spoke to us rudely and acted inappropriately. When we were leaving the club around 3 AM, a heavy chair was in our way. My cousin moved it aside with his foot,” Chandel recalled.
She said this angered the staff, with the club’s manager saying, ‘You are damaging the furniture; we should have thrown you out earlier. You don’t have the status to be here.’ He then grabbed her cousin by the collar, she told.
Hit brother with iron rodes
“When we tried to apologize and leave, he called all the security personnel and bouncers. They started chasing us and raised their hands at us. Since it was difficult to leave the Goa club, they chased us down and hit people in groups.
They struck my sister in the chest and pushed her so hard that she fell down the stairs. They set up a barricade at the entry gate so we couldn’t leave. When my brother removed it, a bouncer ran at him with a rod and started hitting him badly,” Chandel said.
