A routine afternoon at the Sector-14 power house in Vikas Nagar in Lucknow turned chaotic on. This followed a local resident’s alleged violent attack on electricity department employees after a dispute about a disconnected power line. A partial video of the incident went viral, prompting a police investigation and leaving several government employees disturbed.
Lucknow electricity cut: Women slap worker
The trouble started around 2:10 PM when the suspect, Nidhi Sharma, who lives at house number 14/115 in Sector-14, called the substation control room. She said her home had no electricity and demanded that it be fixed immediately.
According to department officials, the staff on duty followed standard procedures. They asked Sharma for her connection number and proof of her recent bill payments. It triggered her anger. She accused them verbally and hung up abruptly.

The confrontation soon became physical. Electricity worker Harish Yadav received multiple slaps and faced attempted strangulation during the struggle. In her rage, Sharma allegedly tore up official documents and registers in the control room.
When another staff member tried to record the incident on his mobile phone, Sharma and her partner took the phone away and attacked him to prevent the recording. Two other employees, Akash Kannaujia and Rajneesh Yadav, suffered minor injuries while trying to help their colleagues.
The Lucknow police were summoned through the Dial-112 emergency system. Although Junior Engineer Sunil Kumar Verma was not present during the violence, he quickly arrived at the substation after hearing about the incident and took charge of the legal response.
