A lift malfunctioned in Greater Noida West’s Himalaya Pride Society Tower 1, trapping several children and women mid-air for nearly an hour. They were heading to another tower for a Kanya Puja during Navratri. This incident happened on Friday and caused panic among those inside.
Women stuck in Greater Noida society lift, health deteriorated
Those stuck in the elevator screamed for help, but no security guard or maintenance worker came to assist them. One person trapped inside said they got no help after pressing the alarm button and had trouble breathing. The small children started crying out of fear.
Rescued after hours
Residents in the tower heard the noise and rushed to the scene to rescue those inside, but the elevator was jammed. After hours of struggle, maintenance and lift staff managed to open the lift and safely bring everyone out. Once rescued, many children cried while women were seated aside and given water. After stuck for so long, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
A similar incident happened before. The society’s AOA president, Seema Bhandari, said this isn’t the first time. There have been several previous cases of elevators suddenly stalling and getting stuck. She mentioned that on March 7th, an elevator in Tower A suddenly collapsed, and the next day, several people were trapped in elevators.
