A 24-year-old woman died in a road accident after run over by a drunk police officer in Ambala, Haryana. The woman, identified as Nikita, fell from a e-rickshaw she was riding in when it hit by the officer. This incident has sparked a large outcry and protests at the Ambala Civil Hospital, with her family calling for action.
24 year old women died in E Rickshaw Crash in Ambala
Nikita was returning home to Ambala from Delhi evening when a police officer collided with her e-rickshaw. She fell from the vehicle, and the officer ran over her, killing her instantly.
“I was driving from Ambala Cantt with four passengers in my e-rickshaw when a speeding car driven by a police officer hit us, causing one of the passengers, a woman, to fall off,” said e-rickshaw driver Ravinder Singh. “After that, the police officer hit the girl. When she arrived at the hospital, she announced dead,” he added.
Drunk and Irresponsible police officer hit E Richshaw
Singh claimed that the police officer was drunk. Mayank, Nikita’s brother, made similar statements based on what locals told him. “My older sister was coming from Delhi. Her name is Nikita, and she works in Gurugram. A drunk police officer was driving the car that ran over my sister,” he said.
The accident happened near Kali Paltan Bridge in Ambala. Locals caught the driver and handed him over to the police. Regarding the incident, Station House Officer (SHO) Dharamveer said that Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Amit assigned as rider number 13 at the Baldev Nagar outpost. “The drunk officer lost control of the vehicle and ran over Nikita. The vehicle also hit the grille on the highway. The police arrested the driver, and a case has been registered,” he said. A investigation is going on.
