A controversy has erupted after Malabar Gold & Diamonds, owned by MP Ahammed, took legal action against social media user Vijay Gajera. He made a series of posts claiming that the jewellery brand worked with a Pakistani influencer who mocked India’s Operation Sindoor and the Indian Army.
Bombay HC orders to hold Vijay Gajera in Jail Over Malabar Gold Criticism
According to a document reviewed by this publication, the company has asked the court for permission to hold Vijay Gajera in civil jail for up to three months. They allege he did not follow earlier court orders and posted objectionable content online. The request also asks the Cyber Cell of Mumbai Police to track down and remove the tweets in question.
“Malabar Gold wants to send me to jail for exposing their collaboration with a Pakistani influencer who mocked our Operation Sindoor. I am willing to go to jail for our Army’s pride. You can’t silence me just because you have money and power,” he said.
Gajera Defends His Posts
He added that his posts were factual and in the national interest, saying, “As an Indian company, your first duty is to hire Indian influencers, not Pakistani ones who ridicule our Army. I will choose jail over bending to a company that hires anti-India influencers for profit.”
The matter has sparked online debate. Supporters praise Gajera’s stance as patriotic, while others warn against spreading misinformation and holding social media trials. Officials from Malabar Gold & Diamonds have yet to provide a detailed public statement regarding the situation.
