Calcutta High Court granted period interim bail to influencer Sharmistha Panoli. Earlier, she was arrested for allegedly posting video on social media with communal remarks. The bench directed influencer Sharmistha Panoli to provide bail bond of ₹10,000. The Calcutta High Court had rejected the interim bail plea of social media influencer Sharmistha Panoli on 3 June.

Instagram influencer Sharmishta Panoli arrested by Kolkata Police from Gurugram in Haryana for allegedly sharing a communal video which brought about huge outrage online.
She in the video allegedly criticised Bollywood celebrities for staying silent on “Op Sindoor.” After high trolling and threats in the remarks, Panoli removed the video and issued a public apology on 15 May. Recently, the court grant bail to influencer.
FIR in opposition to Wajahat Khan Qadri
Earlier on Wednesday, the Kolkata Police registered an FIR against Wajahat Khan Qadri. Wajahat Khan is person whose complaint caused the arrest of social media influencer Sharmistha Panoli, said PTI.
According to the Calcutta High Court, Wajahat Khan Qadri is now absconding. The police accused him of importing “malicious and inflammatory” content on social media, geared toward hurting the emotions of a non secular community. “He (Wajahat Khan Qadri) is currently absconding. We have started an investigation into the case,” a senior Kolkata Police officer said.
The Shri Ram Swabhiman Parishad lodged a complaint against Wajahat Khan Qadri at Kolkata’s Garden Reach police station. As per the info, this is the same police station in which Qadri filed the grievance against Sharmishta Panoli.
