Passenger was intercepted based on profiling at Hyderabad Airport
Officials stopped an Indian passenger who arrived from Bangkok on a Thai Airways flight (TG-329). Acting on behavioral profiling, officers checked his luggage and found 22 vacuum-sealed packets with a green leafy substance.
As per the investigation and testing, the substances seized found as hydroponic weed. It is illegal substance under the NDPS Act, 1985. It weight 13.2 kg that seized during legal procedures.
Kingpin nabbed in follow-up operation
In a follow-up operation on April 8, Customs officials arrested another person suspected of being the mastermind behind the smuggling ring. Authorities stated that the accused played a key role in arranging travel, logistics, and directing instructions for carriers involved in the operation. The accused taken into judicial custody, and further investigations are ongoing to uncover the wider network.
Officials revealed that during the financial year 2025 to 2026, Hyderabad Customs seized a total of 160 kg of hydroponic weed and arrested 30 people linked to such cases. This latest seizure points to a growing trend of smuggling high-value drugs through international routes.
