Actor Dulquer Salmaan has filed a petition in the Kerala High Court to get his vehicle back, that seized by Customs officials during their ongoing effort to combat tax evasion involving luxury cars. On Friday, the court asked Customs to respond to the petition and scheduled a further hearing for 30 Sep.

In his petition, Dulquer claimed he bought the vehicle believing that the seller had valid ownership and that it registered with the Motor Vehicle Department. He said that his representatives provided all the necessary documents, but officials reportedly took the papers without acknowledgment and seized the vehicle on September 23, 2025, without a proper investigation.
Dulquer also raised concerns about media reports regarding the seizure. He argued that these reports linked his vehicle to others allegedly involved in smuggling, drug-related activities, and actions against the state, harming his reputation.

He mentioned that the Land Rover Defender, a 2004 model, was shipped by ICRC to its New Delhi Regional Delegation and had cleared through the correct bill of entry for home use. Dulquer Salmaan said that the seizure was unjustified without checking the vehicle’s origin and paperwork. Customs seized 36 vehicles throughout Kerala, including two belonging to Dulquer Salmaan, one of which is the 2004 Land Rover Defender.
