Student leader Nirmal Chaudhary and Sangaria MLA Abhimanyu Poonia are arrested by police from the Rajasthan University campus. Chaudhary escorted into a police jeep. Both had reportedly arrived at the university to give their 4th-semester Philosophy exam.
Sources show that police employees, some in plain clothes, were present on the university premises in the morning to detain Chaudhary. Both Chaudhary and Poonia later shared posts and videos on social media, accusing the police of appearing without proper methods and obstructing students throughout a exam. In a social media post, Chaudhary alleged that he followed by police since morning.

Upon reaching the exam centre, he claimed he was forcibly detained before he could arrive for the exam. Abhimanyu Poonia, who was also present at the exam centre, was taken into custody. Following their detention, each individual was reportedly taken to the Gandhi Nagar police station.
In separate statements, each Chaudhary and Poonia strongly criticised the police action, calling it “hooliganism” and “a risky sign for the common man.” They accused the police of appearing in a politically prompted way under the current administration.

“The police came without uniforms and disrupted the exam procedure. Arresting us from in the exam centre is a cowardly act,” said Nirmal Chaudhary.
Poonia shared statements, questioning whether or not raising the voice of the people had become a crime. He pledged to keep the fight against injustice no matter the police movement. Poonia was, however, released later, while Chaudhary was taken to the Sanganer Sadar police station. They both was arrested in a case related to the 2022 protest against government works.
