Rajasthan High Court directed the Municipal bodies to remove stray dogs and other animals from streets and reduce physical harm. The action comes after the Supreme Court ordered all stray dogs to removed from Delhi-NCR localities. The order extends to Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad.
The Rajasthan High Court passed this order in a suo motu plea, where the court took focus on dog chew incidents and the threat of stray animals causing deaths in the state.
Rajasthan High Court strict action against Stray Dogs
The court clarified that each person who comes in the way of the municipal authorities to eliminate stray animals. Municipal officers and employees given a free hand to conduct in way that includes lodging First Information Report (FIR) against people coming in the way in their works, obstructing public servants from performing their responsibilities.
A division bench of Justice Kuldeep Mathur and Justice Ravi Chirania said, “The Municipal bodies also undertake a power to remove stray dogs and animals from city roads. It ensures that minimum physical harm prompted to them. If an individual hinder the personnel of Municipalities from discharging their responsibilities in removing stray animals from the roads/colonies/public paths, then Municipal Officials/personnel are free to take action against them.
Stray dogs removed from AIIMS Premises
Immediate action taken from Rajasthan High Court and Jodhpur Municipal Corporation to remove stray animals from the premises of AIIMS, Jodhpur, and the district court. The National Highways Authority and the State Highways Authority directed to regularly patrol highways and ensure strict actions.
