Recently, the Supreme Court has revised the stray dogs orders, and claims that the dogs will release after sterilization. The decision taken by bench of 3 judges headed by Justice Vikram Nath. The court clarifies that dogs will release after sterilization and vaccination.
Supreme Court order of two-judge bench on dog shelters
The Suo Motu case first heard by a bench of two-judges on August 11, who ordered all stray dogs of Delhi to shifted to shelters. The decision was based on a news report called “City Hounded by Strease and Kids Pay Price” at the Times of India.
However, the order stopped by a bench of three-judges, when some lawyers mentioned before the Chief Justice that the directions in conflict with previous orders passed by other benches.
Preparation for basic shelters
The Supreme Court order directed the municipal authorities to take stray dogs from all areas. This made it mandatory for at least 5,000 dogs in eight weeks and prohibited the return of dogs to the streets without sterilization.
The shelters are also placed to take care of dogs. CCTV monitoring also keep mandatory to ensure that no dogs released from these facilities without any permission.
