Actor and TVK chief Vijay is set to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Delhi today. This is related to the September 2025 stampede that caused 41 deaths during a party rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu.
Vijay took a chartered flight from Chennai and has arrived in Delhi. He will be questioned at the CBI headquarters around 11 am.
CBI questioning Vijay in Delhi
TVK sources shows that the party has asked police in the national capital to ensure security for its founder-leader. This development follows the CBI’s investigation into the stampede that occurred during a political meeting Vijay addressed on September 27.
The summons for Vijay’s appearance comes after the CBI sent him a notice earlier this month. The Karur stampede happened on September 27, 2025, while Vijay spoke to party members and the public. The incident resulted in 41 deaths and injuries to over 60 others.
Investigation on stampede still continue
The investigation into how the stampede happened is ongoing, with authorities working to gather evidence and question those involved. The CBI took charge of the case from a Special Investigation Team (SIT) after a Supreme Court order directed the agency to lead the probe.
Since then, the agency has questioned several TVK officials to determine responsibility and the sequence of events leading up to the tragedy. Party representatives have formally asked the Delhi Police to provide full security arrangements for Vijay during his visit. They stress that the safety of their leader is a top priority, given the public attention and the ongoing investigation.
Authorities in Delhi have been notified about Vijay’s arrival and appearance at the CBI headquarters. Preparations are ongoing for the questioning session, which will likely focus on details of the event and the safety measures in place at the time of the stampede.
