The political storm between AAP Versus BJP over “vote theft” has reignited in the Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party has accused the EC of working with the BJP during the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections.
This controversy arises as Delhi prepares for its upcoming Special Intensive Revision for voter rolls, bringing electoral credibility back into the political spotlight.
AAP Versus BJP after Vote Chori allegations
At a press briefing, AAP’s Delhi chief Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the party’s warnings to the EC earlier this year were ignored. He claimed, “The Election Commission is doing ‘vote chori’ with the BJP.”
AAP’s former Chief Minister Atishi wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner on January 8 and 9, urging action, but received no response. On January 9, Arvind Kejriwal also wrote to flag fraud in the New Delhi constituency.
“Last month, we even filed an RTI asking what investigation or action was taken on those letters. The Election Commission replied that the action taken ‘cannot be shared publicly,” the AAP leader mentioned.
BJP Hits Back
The BJP has dismissed these allegations as political targets in terms of AAP Versus BJP. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that AAP refuses to accept the reality on the ground.
“Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Satyendar Jain are suffering from delusions. If Kejriwal had actually visited these areas, he would know how many government quarters were vacated, demolished, rebuilt, and how many families moved,” he said.
