The Bharatiya Janata Party appointed Bihar minister Nitin Nabin as its National Working President on Sunday. This change took effect immediately. Nabin, who currently oversees the Road Construction portfolio in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, received the position through an order from BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh after approval from the Parliamentary Board.
Nitin Nabin appointed as National Working President
This appointment surprised nearly everyone. PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced a name that had not been part of media speculation or internal party talks.
Nabin’s promotion occurred even after months of reporting and intense discussions. Previous reports shows that senior Union ministers like Dharmendra Pradhan and Bhupender Yadav were frontrunners, along with former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. RSS-linked leader Sanjay Joshi also mentioned as a potential candidate.
BJP planning to appoint next women National President
Additionally, there was ongoing talk that the BJP appoint a woman as its next national president. The names like Nirmala Sitharaman, D Purandeswari, and Vanathi Srinivasan considered.
The selection of 45-year-old Nitin Nabin changed all those expectations. PM congratulated Nabin on his appointment, calling him a dedicated worker. “He is a young and hardworking leader with significant experience in the organization. His work as an MLA and minister in Bihar has been very effective, and he has dedicated himself to fulfilling the people’s aspirations. He known for his humble nature and his hands-on approach,” PM Modi said.
