Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray announced their parties’ alliance on Wednesday, just ahead of the BMC Elections 2026. This announcement ended months of speculation.
During a joint news conference with Raj, Uddhav stated that the two parties have united to stay strong together. However, Raj did not provide details about how the parties will share seats for the important BMC elections.

“Mumbai’s mayor will be Marathi and will be ours,” Raj said. Uddhav mentioned that the parties have agreed on seat sharing for the Nashik Municipal Corporation elections, which will also take place on January 15. This includes Mumbai and 27 other municipal corporations across the state.
He added that discussions are ongoing for an alliance in other local bodies. “Those who can’t stand what’s happening in the BJP can also join us,” Uddhav said.
