Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav comments about Lord Krishna during a Janmashtamti event. It cause political tensions. The opposition Congress has accused him of trying to change the traditions of Sanatana Dharma.
Mohan Yadav comments on ‘makhan chor’ tag
While speaking at an event, Yadav criticised the well-known nickname “makhan chor” (butter thief) linked to Lord Krishna. He said, “Even saying the word ‘Makhan Chor’ feels improper. Lord Krishna loved butter, so much so that it often become in Kansa’s house. His anger was because Kansa was consuming what belonged to him. To show this anger, he gathered a group of cowherd boys who would eat the butter themselves or break the pots, ensuring the enemy did not get it. Lord Krishna’s view was one of rebellion. He wanted to send a message. But unintentionally, we use terms for his rebellion that sound unpleasant to say,” he explained in Hindi.
Congress accused MP for making such comments on Sanatana Dharma
The statement gained attention on social media and received strong backlash from Congress. Umang Singhar, the Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, claimed Yadav was trying to change the history of Lord Krishna’s life stories. “Mohan Yadav wants to write his own version of history.
For centuries, Krishna’s history have been recorded and celebrated. Does he now want to change the ancient stories of Sanatana Dharma?” Singhar questioned. With the Krishna Janmashtami celebrations still fresh in people’s minds, this controversy has introduced a new political twist in the state.
