Veteran Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has embarrassed the Grand Old Party once again. In an interview, the former Union Minister made controversial comments about senior party colleagues, including Shashi Tharoor, Jairam Ramesh, and Pawan Khera.
He also claimed that Congress will not win the upcoming Assembly elections in Kerala because its leaders “hate each other more than they hate the Communists.”
Aiyar calls S Tharoor’s Pawan Khera ‘Puppet’
Aiyar’s remarks have sparked outrage, especially after he praised Kerala Chief Minister and CPM leader Pinarayi Vijayan. He even predicted that Vijayan would remain in his position following the elections. The Congress party has tried to distance itself from Aiyar’s comments. Party leader Pawan Khera said that Aiyar has no ties to Congress and speaks only for himself.
In his interview, Aiyar referred to Khera as a “puppet” and argued that he is not a spokesman for the party. He said, “He has been accusing me for the past two years. If the Congress party cannot find anyone other than PawanKhera to be its spokesman, it will be in the condition it is in.”
Labelled tharoor as “ Anti Pakistan”
When asked about Congress’s chances in Kerala, Aiyar replied, “I want the Congress to win, but I don’t believe it will because Congress leaders are divided. They hate each other more than they hate the Communists.”
Aiyar also criticized four-time Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor, who has clashed with party leadership over issues like Operation Sindoor. He labelled Tharoor as “anti-Pakistan” and suggested that he aims to be the “next foreign minister.”
