Congress MP and former Union Minister Renuka Chowdhury, known for bringing a dog to Parliament and criticizing her fellow lawmakers, was defiant this morning. She said that she has broken no rules and is unconcerned about any potential actions against her.
Renuka Chowdhury reply “ woof woof” over dog row
“If they want to bring a action against me for violating special rights, let them do it. It doesn’t matter to me. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee also brought a bullock cart to Parliament. Dogs are very important in Hinduism.
There is no rule I have violated. It doesn’t matter to me,” she told the media in response to BJP leaders’ threats to introduce a motion against her for her ‘dog’ stunt. She also responded sharply when asked about the BJP leaders’ criticism and the possibility of a privilege motion against her.
BJP Clash with Congress again
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla commented on Chowdhury’s video of ‘barking,’ saying, “When you lose the ’95 elections, this is what happens to your mental state. Congress leaders justify calling Congress MPs dogs. Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury says ‘Bhau Bhau.’ Get well soon, Rahul Gandhi. Get well soon, Congress.”
The 71-year-old politician sparked controversy when she brought a dog onto Parliament grounds. Sources say security personnel stopped her at the gates and asked her not to bring the dog, but she insisted on entering with it. The dog returned in the MP’s car shortly afterward, but its brief stay prompted discussions about protocol.
