Recently, a viral podcast about a shocking 2017 letter written by activist Rona Wilson to an associate named Prakash surfaced in light of the supposed investigation files of the Bhima Koregaon case. The plot discussed in the letter involves a purported plot to assassinate and eliminate PM Modi at a public rally scheduled to be held in the state of Manipur. This has created a storm of debate on social media, with netizens asking whether this scheme had anything to do with the fact that the Congress party is repeatedly demanding Modi visit Manipur.
Now, into this very chaotic debate, a letter has emerged – one in which a minute plan is conveyed to assassinate and eliminate PM Modi through snipers procured in Nepal. It mentions two routes to deliver the rifles—the Kolkata and Chhattisgarh border routes. It even mentions a package containing pictures of the same rifles that have already been sent. The assassination was to be carried out during a public rally in Manipur, similar to the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Manipur visit is still on the cards for Modi
Many have pointed out the time and the timing of Congress’s efforts toward making Modi’s Manipur visit. Several times, people wondered if this was a bigger game plan, one designed by active forces with evil intent to bring in another Rajiv Gandhi-type situation. It has rekindled the spectre of “urban Naxal” networks conspiring against the leadership of this country, as Rona Wilson himself was among the accused of the 2018 Bhima Koregaon violence and had been associated with several other forms of extremist activities.
Wilson, who has been no stranger to activism and has, over the years, dealt with people booked under the Unlawful Activities Act, is reported to have engaged with people linked with terror-related activities. His position as the public relations secretary of the Committee for the Release of Political Prisoners has also raised a cloud of suspicion over the legitimacy of his activism.
