The Delhi government face around 4,000 to 5,000 cases that are pending in various courts. Taking observe of the backlog, CM Rekha Gupta told the law department to initiate litigation audits, official panels for legislative reforms.
The official statement said, was aimed toward lowering court burden and streamlining legal governance. “Around 4,000 to 5,000 cases involving the Government of Delhi are pending in various courts. The Chief Minister focus the pressing need to rationalise government litigation and reduce the pressure at the judiciary,” the official statement said. Gupta has also directed the formation of expert panels comprising retired bureaucrats and area professionals to check pending cases.

Gupta also noted that, Delhi currently does not have a devoted panel of lawyers in the Supreme Court. The CM directed the law branch to modified the setting of a panel for the Delhi government in the Supreme Court. “Acknowledging the importance of legal illustration at the best level, the CM said.”
Insufficient office area
During the meeting, Gupta was aware of sanctioned strength of judicial officers and insufficient office area. The CM said that three new court complexes, at Shastri Park, Karkardooma, and Rohini are currently under creation. Once completed, it will assist in addressing both personnel and infrastructure gaps. The CM Rekha Gupta directed the involved agencies to ensure the timely and expedited completion of those ongoing infrastructure projects.
