The ECI has released the draft voter list for Uttar Pradesh after the SIR. During a press conference in Lucknow this afternoon, the state electoral officer of Uttar Pradesh, Navdeep Rinva, announced that the draft voter list includes the names of 12 crore 55 lakh 56 thousand 25 voters.
He mentioned that 81.30 % of the current voters filled out their forms and registered for the new draft. The existing voter list had a total of 15 crore 44 lakh 30 thousand 92 voters.
ECI Says 2.89 Crore Voters’ Names Not Found in Electoral Roll
This means 2.89 crore voters’ names did not appear in the new draft voter list released by the Election Commission. This accounts for 18.70 % of the existing voter list. Mr. Rinva said that 46.23 lakh voters, or 2.99 % of the existing voter list found deceased during the SIR.
The BLOs could not find the names of 2.17 crore voters during the SIR, which is 14.04 % of the existing voter list. Additionally, 25.47 lakh voters’ names found in more than one place in the voter list, making up 1.65 % of the existing voter list.
Final publication now on 6 March 2026
Mr. Navdeep Rinva announced that the period for receiving claims and objections will be from January 6 to February 6, 2026. From January 6 to February 27, 2026, during the notice phase, decisions on the claims and objections made.
The final publication of the electoral roll for Uttar Pradesh will occur on March 6, 2026. After that date, citizens will have one month to submit their claims and objections.
