Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has applied for a pension as a former Member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. The Assembly Secretariat starts the process of approving his application. Dhankhar, who recently stepped down as vice president, previously served as an MLA in Rajasthan.
He was elected to the 10th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in 1993 from the Kishangarh constituency in Ajmer district on a Congress ticket. His term as an MLA lasted until 1998. During this time, he was also a member of the Assembly’s Rules Committee from 1994 to 1997.
Jagdeep Dhankhar seek for Pension of ₹42,000
According to the rules, each former MLA in Rajasthan is eligible for a monthly pension of Rs 35,000. Additionally, there are provisions for an age-related increase. A former MLA over 70 years old can receive an extra 20 % pension, while those over 80 years get a 30 % growth.
Dhankhar, who is currently 74, qualifies for the 20 percent increase. This means he will receive about Rs 42,000 per month as a pension. If he turns 80 in the future, his pension will go up by 30 %, following the rules.

Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani confirmed that Dhankhar’s application for pension as a former MLA has been received, and the necessary steps are in progress. Once everything is finalized, he will start getting the pension.
